Crispy Homemade Fried Chicken


Craving for crispy fried and tender chicken? This easy homemade recipe delivers juicy, flavourful fried chicken with a crunch you’ll love! I’ll walk you through each step, from preparing, marinating to frying, and share essential tips for ultimate crispiness.

Ingredients used: 

  • Chicken (1/2 kg or 1 pound) 
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp 
  • Lemon - slice 
  • Egg - 1 
  • Soy sauce 1tsp 
  • Chilli powder 1 tsp 
  • Pepper powder - 2 tsp 
  • Salt - to taste 
  • Cornflour - 1 tbsp 
  • Hot sauce - 1 tsp (optional)
  • Breadcrumbs - 3 tbsp 
  • Water - as needed

Step 1: Prep Ingredients

First, gather all ingredients. Start by thoroughly washing the chicken three times, using water and a bit of turmeric to ensure cleanliness. Then, gently beat the chicken with a roller to flatten it; this will help make it extra crispy. Place the chicken in a bowl and set aside. Now, let’s prepare the other ingredients.


Step 2: Marination

Marinate the chicken with ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, pepper powder, salt, soy sauce, lemon juice, and an egg. Mix everything thoroughly until the chicken is well coated. For the best flavour and texture, refrigerate the marinated chicken for 15-30 minutes.

In the meantime, prepare the cornflour solution by adding water little by little to the cornflour until you achieve a semi-liquid, batter-like consistency. Set this aside, and pour the breadcrumbs onto a separate plate.

Step 3: Coating the Chicken

Now, take the chilled marinated chicken and dip each piece in the cornflour batter, ensuring both sides are coated. Then, press it into the breadcrumbs to cover evenly. Place each coated piece on a plate, and we’re ready to fry!



Step 4: Cooking

Preheat oil in a pan for frying. Check the temperature before each batch to ensure a perfect fry. Once the oil is ready, carefully add each piece of chicken and fry on medium heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remember to stay safe around hot oil! Once done, transfer to a paper towel-lined bowl to remove excess oil.


Step 5: Serving

Your crispy fried chicken is ready to serve! Garnish as you like and enjoy with your favorite dips, or pair it with rice and curry.
